Author and political activist, Naomi Wolf will be one of the guest speakers at the seventh annual San Miguel Writers’ Conference. Wolf is the author of seven books, including The End of America, The Treehouse, Promiscuities, Fire with Fire, Misconceptions, Give Me Liberty, and The Beauty Myth. Of the seven, three have been on The New York Times bestseller list.
Wolf was born in San Francisco, California, and later received her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Yale University. In 1985, she was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and did her postgraduate study at the New College, Oxford. Currently, she speaks to audiences around the world about social justice, gender equality, and the defense of liberty both internationally and in America.
Her first nonfiction book, The Beauty Myth, was an international success, and prompted her to be the spokesperson for third-wave feminism. Her sixth book, The End of America, won the 2008 Silver Freedom Fighter Award (Independent Publisher Book Awards) and the 2008 Silver Book Award for Social Change/Activism/Peaceful Solutions (Nautilus Book Awards).
